This is Bou Meng. One of only seven survivors of the 17,000 victims of, once school then torture unit, Prison-S21. Bou survived because he could paint. During the Khmer Rouge reign he had to paint Pol Pot again and again and again. After the genocide regime came to an end he painted what he had seen.
(One of Bou’s eyes seems almost closed, catching little light, hence my small edit to enhance the artists’ eye. I am till a bit spun out from this visit to be fair.)
